This section covers the Tracing Tool in EpochField Mobile.

Use the Tracing Tool

Select the Tool Menu.
Select Tracing.

All Trace Options in the dropdown are applicable to all trace types. Downstream Features is selected by default.

Select a Trace Option from the Trace Option dropdown.
Navigate to a valid Tracing point on the map.

See Map Navigation for guidance on how to navigate the map.

Select Add Trace Point.
Select a valid Tracing point. EpochField Mobile will provide a prompt saying to do so.

If a trace point with no relevant features is selected, a popup will appear, indicating that nothing could be found.

If a spot with multiple relevant Assets is selected, a list will be shown, and any trace point may be selected from the list. Select Save once an Asset is selected.

Once an Asset has been identified for the trace, the Run Trace button becomes active.

Select Run Trace to run the trace and populate the list of traced assets. The linear features traced will also be shown in the map.

The map will Zoom to the extent of the trace. All Assets detected in the trace will be displayed. The line detected by the trace will also be displayed on the map.

Trace Functions

Show All

Select Show All to Zoom the map to the extent of the most recently run trace.

Clear Trace

Select Close to exit the Tracing Tool in order to clear the trace results.

Export Results

Select Export to export the trace results to a comma-separated value file and open it in a text viewer or spreadsheet program.

Flash On

Select Flash On to highlight all Assets on the map that were captured by the trace.
