This page has been updated to reflect changes to EpochField Mobile and EpochField Web Suite version 5.2.4. See Release 5.2.4 for additional details.

Data Configurations

When the Workflow window appears, it will display all the necessary information at once. This includes the attributes for the Work Feature (if configured in EpochField Workflow Builder), the combined list of Categories and Fields that can be filled out for this Work Feature, a valid values list for the selected Category, and a list of eligible data entry Fields. The attributes for the Work Feature Asset will be shown on the side for easy reference throughout the data entry process. The order of how Categories and Fields are displayed is configured in EpochField Workflow Builder. See Form Order for more information.

Everything in this window for a given Work Feature has been configured as such based on the task type for that feature.

Some Categories are configured to allow one valid value selection.

Required Data

  • Both Categories and Fields can be configured as required information.

    • Meaning some information must be entered for those items before the work feature data can be saved.

    • Required items have a text indicator that they are required.

Conditionally Required Data

  • EpochField's Intelligent Workflow capabilities were created to ensure the data collection user experience was concise and efficient.

  • A selection of a value configured in EpochField Workflow Builder may make a Category or Field required.

    • The Category or Field is not required by default and may become required if a specific valid value has been selected in the Workflow.

Conditionally Disabled Data

  • EpochField's Intelligent Workflow can also be configured so the selection of a valid value disables other categories, values, or comments.

  • The disabled Categories, Values, or Fields would not need to be addressed based on the selection of another value, and are hidden as a result.

    • This helps drive the user through the Workflow and helps them make intelligent data entry decisions along the way as well as eliminates the possibility for mistakes and time wasted on unnecessary data entry tasks.

Conditionally Default Data

  • EpochField’s Intelligent Workflow can also be to configured to set a default value in one Category based on a selected Value in another Category.

    • This helps streamline the data entry process when default values that are used most of the time can be pre-selected based on other conditions.

      • In an example the combination of selected values in the Condition Type and Weather categories automatically selects default values in the Severity and Observations categories.

Conditional Data Actions

  • Valid values can be configured with indicators.

    • An Attachment icon indicates that an Attachment is required if that Value is selected. See Work Feature Attachments for more information.

    • A wrench icon indicates that the issue described by that Value should be Fixed on Site.
